"Why did you throw out the markers?" she asked. "Because they don't write," I replied. "No, really, look." I pulled out a marker and showed her. Pulled off a cap. Dragged it across paper. Nothing. I did it with some of the others. Markers only have so much of a shelf life. As I found out, it's less than 23 years.
And then we have these:
Some time around 2003 or so I rediscovered that show I loved in childhood, Doctor Who. And I bought whatever DVDs and (if not available on DVD, which was often the case) VHS tapes I could find to complete those Tom Baker shows I watched back in the 1970s at age 3 or 4. Each of these came with a comment card to fill out and send to the BBC. I ended up with a few dozen of these, and even filled most of them out. Maybe if I added 20 requests for a certain thing to release, they'd listen? Well I didn't know. I never got around to mailing them. I finally just accepted the fact that I wouldn't get around to it. Into the time vortex you go. Or at least, the trash.
