So after some hesitation, I finally decided to go to a local meeting of Clutters Anonymous.
Yes, as you might guess from group whose name in the form of "[somethings] Anonymous" in the title, this is a 12-step program to help people with their cluttering problems.
My hesitation wasn't due to self-denial or helplessness or anything like that. It's because I'm highly skeptical about the effectiveness of 12-step programs in general.
This is all I'm saying for now. I just wanted to mention the organization, because just mentioning the fact that it exists and that they have a website, is relevant enough for this clutter blog. In parts 2 and 3 I'm going to talk a little more about 12-step programs and my (and other people's) criticisms of the format. Then in part 4 I'm going to talk about what the meeting was actually like. In short: not nearly as bad as I had feared it to be, but boy, these meetings are sure riddled with some self-defeating rules.
